Open Democracy Action and Equal Citizen and its national partners welcome Senator Bernie Sanders to the nonpartisan Democracy Town Hall Series stage on Saturday, December 28th at 6 p.m. at the Concord High School auditorium.
In the 2016 election, Senator Sanders was the first major candidate to make Democracy reform a central issue in a U.S. Presidential campaign. As with all of the Democracy Town Hall Series events, the Senator will have an opportunity to give details on how he would advance reform issues like publicly-financed elections, his position on the Electoral College, disclosure or Dark Money, and what steps he would take to address the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision.
Our event will focus on the candidate's positions on issues relating to our Republic's democracy, including:
-
Voting rights & Voter Suppression
-
Modernizing voting
-
Public funding of elections
-
Gerrymandering & Fair Voting Districts
-
Citizens United & Dark Money
-
A 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
-
SuperPACs and the LLC Loophole
-
Federal Elections Commission & IRS Enforcement
-
The “Revolving Door” of Legislator-to-Lobbyist influence
-
The Electoral College & Winner-take-all elections
-
Ranked Choice Voting
-
And other democracy-related questions you might ask.
As a nonpartisan event, we ask that you keep partisan rhetoric to a minimum. Preserving our Republic by fixing our democracy is something we can all agree on!
