We believe that every New Hampshire citizen deserves to have an equal opportunity to get out and have their voices heard by exercising their voting rights. In order to build a better democracy, we must remove the barriers that keep citizens from voting. That's why it is vital for New Hampshire to make Election Day a State Holiday. We know that daily life and responsibilities can get in the way for many citizens, people with childcare responsibilities, non-traditional work hours, or long shifts can be prevented from getting to the polls on election day. We see this trend here in New Hampshire as well. This year, roughly 60% of voting age NH citizens turned out to cast a ballot in the Presidential Election. Making election day a holiday is highly favorable, with widespread support on both sides of the political aisle. Everyone benefits when we all take an active role in shaping our society. That's why I support making Election Day a recognized State Holiday.
