Congressman John Sarbanes of Maryland will be joining us on March 3rd via zoom at 6:30 pm. He primarily authored the For the 
People Act which addressed public, small donor funding of elections, nationwide automatic voter registration, and expansion of early voting among other measures. Notably it included provisions for independent redistricting commissions to decrease gerrymandering. He also serves on the Commission on Energy and Commerce as well as the Committee on Oversight and Reform.
His work on HR 1 has served to put him on the forefront of reforming the transparency of government and eliminating corruption. He has worked to rid Washington of special interests and to improve accountability.
He follows in his father’s footsteps being the son of Senator Paul Sarbanes who served in the US Congress for 40 years. A Harvard Law graduate he worked for several years on the Maryland State Department of Education working to improve public school education. He has done a great deal of work promoting a healthy environment and was a big supporter of the Affordable Care Act.
