Redistricting Petition

Please join us support of an independent redistricting commission by signing the petition.

We believe in voters choosing their politicians rather than politicians choosing their voters.  Gerrymandering is a national problem on both sides of the political spectrum. Electoral districts should be formed in a fair and open process in the best interest of all Granite Staters.  We know that America’s faith in government has been shaken, and creating a fair and transparent system of redistricting would help restore the public’s confidence. That is why I support, through Constitutional Amendment or a legislative fix, an independent commission to oversee the redistricting process in New Hampshire.

Governor Sununu’s veto proves he prefers partisan redistricting rather than FAIR redistricting. IMHO, it’s not acceptable, given that our democracy is at risk in so many ways.

No matter which party is in charge after the 2020 elections, they are very likely to succumb to pressure to draw district lines that favor their party. That’s why it is important to have an independent redistricting commission to do the leg work and come up with boundaries that are fair to both sides and more importantly to the people of New Hampshire. Please support HB 1665 on Wednesday, March 11.

The governor vetoed this last year. Let’s send an overwhelming message that he will not override the will of the majority in this urgent matter.

It’s time we let the people pick their politicians and not the politicians pick their people.

I would respectfully ask Governor Sununu to sign this bill, as well.

The current district makeup is nonsensical and needs to be changed, the sooner the better.
